| Description | Both Icon Builder and Iconeezer have their own output setups. You can edit the setups using this editor.
Basically, you can save your icons in following formats:
| 1. | | Custom Icon | | Lets you change icon of an existing file or create new file with the custom icon. | | 2. | Custom Folder | Lets you change icon of an existing folder or create new folder with the custom icon. | | 3. | .icns Resource File | Standard OS X format for storing icon resources into binary file with no resource fork. | | 4. | Resource Fork | Save your icon into resource fork with defined resource ID and Name. | | 5. | Clipboard | Save your icon to clipboard. Ready to paste anywhere. |
With above format options, there are generally 4 destination parameters:
| 1. | | Ask for file/folder | | When saving your icon, this option asks you to select a file or folder (new or existing) where your icon will be saved. With Custom Icon as a format, the existing source file remains unchanged with the exception of icon resources. On the other hand, .icns format causes all data of the existing file to be overwritten. | | 2. | Use selected file/folder | With this option you can save your icon into selected file/folder without being asked each time. Please remember, that saving the icon replaces the previously saved icon. | | 3. | Save in folder | This option is suitable if you wish to process more graphic files with Iconeezer and save created icons into specified folder under selected name. Default folder represents folder configured in the Iconeer's Preferences. If no folder is being configured in the Prefs, icons are saved into Iconeer folder in your Documents folder. You can specify any other folder on your disk. The name of the saved icons is derived from the source file (Default Filename). If you choose Custom Filename, preset value will be used instead. | | 4. | Source Pict file | If icon is created from an existing file rather than clipboard or dragged pictures, this option lets you save icon onto the source file. Be careful with this option not to overwrite some important data with the icon resources. |
Save Options These are some additional options:
| Compress icon data | | Check this option to compress icon data. This option is obsolete for 256x256 Tiger icons and 512x512 Leopard icons since these use JPEG2000 compression by default. All other icons, including 128x128 thumbnail, can be compressed. Please remember that compression is lossless and does not influence how the icons are diplayed nor reduces the quality of your icons in any way. The only purpose is to make icon files smaller and to save space on your disk. | Remove unused icon resources | If you save your icon over an existing icon, this options allows you to remove all old icon resources. E.g. if old icon used 16x16 classic icons and the new icon does not, those 16x16 classic icon resources will be removed. Otherwise, leaving this option unchecked would leave those 16x16 icons resources untouched. | | Overwrite old file | If you save your icon over an existing file, this option will cause the file to be completely overwritten (like it was created from scratch). |
